Kevin DeVore tried a Criminal Sexual Conduct case to a Washington County jury in April 2024. During the 8-day trial, DeVore called two forensic expert witnesses, plus several fact and character witnesses in his client’s defense. DeVore also cross examined two expert witnesses for the state, the alleged victim, and other law enforcement witnesses called by the state. The jury deliberated for 4 hours and came back with NOT GUILTY verdicts on all counts.
This was the second jury trial in a row that DeVore was able secure Not Guilty verdicts for his clients (both Criminal Sexual Conduct cases). He is ready to make it a hat trick!

Kevin is happy to announce that he helped his client get two felony charges dismissed after a contested preliminary hearing in St. Croix County, Wisconsin. Charged with Felony Strangulation and Felony Stalking, Kevin and his client challenged the probable cause to support the charges. The State called one witness who testified. On cross examination, Kevin was able to get the officer to admit the State was lacking evidence to support the two felony charges. At the completion of the hearing, the Judge dismissed the two felony charges, thus opening the door for Kevin to quickly resolve the remaining misdemeanor charges. Another happy client.

Kevin DeVore received another dismissal for his client. On the verge of going to trial in Ramsey County, the State dismissed its assault charges against a DeVore Law Office client for lack of ability to prove its case. Kevin and his team dug in their heels and mounted a strong defense early to show the State that it had a weak case. A just result was achieved.

One of Kevin DeVore’s clients received an early holiday present from Ramsey County this week. Charged with Felony Assault 2nd Degree – Dangerous Weapon and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Kevin and his client filed a self-defense claim and set the matter for trial. After one trial scheduling delay, Kevin’s client maintained his innocence and pushed for his day in court. After a long wait, Ramsey County Attorney’s Office filed its dismissal of all charges thus avoiding the need for trial. DeVore Law Office could not be happier for their client and we are glad to help reach this just result.

Kevin DeVore stood up for his client’s rights and, after reviewing the evidence, persuaded the Ramsey County prosecutor to dismiss the charges. DeVore’s client was charged with domestic assault following an incident with a family member. It was clear that the evidence would have made it difficult for the State to prove its case. Kevin used his trial experience to convince the State the best outcome was to dismiss the case in the interests of justice. This truly was the best result for everyone, including the alleged victim and the community.

In a very rare instance, a client of Kevin DeVore was given a downward dispositional departure in an Assault 2 and Felon in Possession of a Firearm case. A Ramsey County Judge granted the defendant’s motion for the downward departure, which was agree to by the State, and allowed Mr. DeVore’s client to avoid going to prison on a 60-month and 36-month prison commit case. This will give DeVore’s client the chance to turn his life around and to provide for his family. DeVore worked extensively with the State’s attorney to get this deal done.

Another client of Kevin DeVore has had all charges dismissed. Washington County Attorney’s Office dismissed two counts of Felony Theft by Swindle and Theft by Diverting Corporate Property after investigative work produced by the defense showcased flaws in the State’s case and raised serious questions of credibility in the State’s witnesses. The State decided it did not have enough evidence to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt and chose to dismiss instead of go to trial. The right decision was made in a tough case.
